Content

Samsung is one of the most respected names in the electronics industry. With a history that goes back more than 30 years, this Korean company has grown into one of the world's largest electronics manufacturers. Samsung has definitely come a long way since they produced their first black and white television. Today, they have offices all over the world and manufacture everything from tiny memory chips to huge projection televisions.

Samsung is quickly becoming a major player in the optical storage industry. Since their first 2x CD-ROM in 1994, they've hit the ground running and haven't looked back. Best known for their high performance combo drives, their product line also includes a number of CD-RW, CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drives.

Earlier this year, Samsung announced their new 52/24/52 CD-RW drive, the SW-252B. With sights set on the consumer looking for a drive with some of the fastest speeds currently available, the SW-252B reads and writes at 52x and rewrites at a blazing 24x. This new CD-RW drive also has many of the features we've come to expect from Samsung like an 8MB buffer and support for Ricoh's JustLink and JustSpeed technology. To top it off, Samsung has included one of the most popular CD burning software suites available.

With store shelves already full of 52x writers, the SW-252B is up against some stiff competition. To give you an idea of what to expect from Samsung's new writer, we'll take a look at some of its features and then put it up against some of the 52x writers from the competition. Does Samsung have another award winner here? Is it the best bang for your buck? Keep reading to find out.
