¢¹ Samsung Electronic challenges to sell 60 million products
related ODD enterprise in year.
Based on it, it tries to raise the market
share up to 21%, and reduce the gap to the top.
Especially, it plans to have various product-lineups such
as storages for game and notebook
because a storage for desktop is getting weaker in a profitability aspect.
¢¹ On 16th, a special storage company - TSST Korea (In-Sub
Hwang, the chairperson,
a joint-venture company of Samsung electronics and
Toshiba) determined its business goal to raise
its last year output (55 million
products) to 60 million products.
In consideration of the top company¡¯s market share, about 30%, - HLDS, a
joint-venture company of
LG electronic and Hitachi which takes the fist place
in the ODD market share - the volume,
about 21%, will be a match for the top in
years.
¢¹ TRS, the market research company, expects that the ODD
market volume of this year is
about 2.8 hundred million.
The company also
plans to improve the profitability with the output volume of this year.
¢¹ It is expected that the world market including domestic
is brought up 4.8% from a year earlier,
but the sales amount instead declined
about 3.9%.
To provide against it, Samsung transferred the product-lines
to foreign countries such as
Indonesia
last year.
¢¹ It diversifies the product-lineup.
It will change the
desktop-centered item. It plans to give
a great deal on the items of ODD
and AV products for the game loader, notebook
PC, etc.
TSST has a goal to grow 70% from the last year only in
this field.
Especially, the next ODD products such as blue-ray/HD DVD
etc. will be come out in second quarter
of the year and try to preoccupy the
market.
¢¹ In the beginning of May, various ODD products, BD and
upgraded DVD-RW drive, etc.,
will be shown on the exhibition ¡®2006 CeBIT¡¯ in Honnover,
Germany.
¢¹ In-Sub Hwang, the president of Samsung Electronics, said,
¡°The profitability
of ODD is not quiet
good yet, but it can be overcome by diversifying distribution
channels and producing innovative
products,¡± and ¡°Samsung will keep maintaining the image of the
leading company by aggressively
dealing with the next ODD market which is
expected up to 7.5 hundred thousand products this year.
